5 Things That Can Replace A Cup Of Coffee To Wake You Up In The Morning
Oh, we love coffee. This hot and cozy beverage is like that cocoa your mother used to make for you, but for adults (and that makes it even better)!
Despite this drink being a literal heaven juice, it comes with consequences, and some of us can’t drink it regularly. We need good alternatives to coffee. That’s why we want to share with you our favourite coffee replacements that help us to open our eyes in the morning and function like a regular human being. Enjoy!
1. Green Tea
This is the easiest way to get a coffee alternative for most of us. The health benefits of this drink is one of the biggest pros that speak on its behalf. Studies show that green tea has antioxidants and minerals that reduce the risk of several types of cancer. And a healthy dose of caffeine in green tea will boost your energy and keep you fresh all day long!
2. Chicory Coffee
The roasted root of chicory has been used as a coffee drink for ages in different parts of the world. It tastes very similar to coffee, but it doesn’t have caffeine at all! It has excellent digestive properties and can be used as a regular coffee in your coffeemaker. It doesn’t have natural energizers, but it can work as a placebo due to its similarity to coffee.
3. Mate
Mate is a very interesting herbal tea that can taste weird at the beginning. But trust us, later it will be so hard to stop drinking it! It is a delicious natural herbal beverage with a good dose of caffeine to wake you up and an abundance of vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy. Antioxidants, riboflavin, vitamin C, phosphorus and other good stuff that are in every mate drink keep you focused and full of energy for an entire day.
However, just like with coffee, mate should be consumed in moderation due to high caffeine levels. Ask your doctor about your particular situation and enjoy this South American treat.
4. Golden Milk
Hot and spicy milk that only takes five minutes to prepare and gives you endless happiness afterwards. You can add pretty much any spice to it, but we advise you to keep away black pepper and add honey, vanilla, ginger, or any other spices to taste. The main ingredient of this milk is, of course, turmeric, which gives the milk its golden colour. It has fantastic anti-inflammatory qualities and can be used to calm down the sore throat.
5. Lemon water
A refreshing and energizing hot cup of lemon water with honey or sugar is a perfect way to start your day! It helps you to wake up with a massive dose of vitamin C and quick energy from sugar or honey carbs. Of course, you can drink it without any sweeteners, but we are not as brave as you are!
Bonus : Apples !
It is not a drink (well, you can make it into a smoothie, though), but there’s some magic in the green apples that help you wake up even better than a coffee! Add to your breakfast an apple a day to keep coffee away!
